Darlene Watters - Airplay At Last!

Hello Friends!
ImageThe last few months have been incredibly busy for me. I started a part-time job at the new radio station in Wasaga Beach (97.7 the Beach) and am having a wonderful time working there. I'm handling the reception duties till 12:30 p.m., but I am also the office "I.T. Support". So far the computer issues have been non-existent, so I keep myself busy doing other things. It has been loads of fun and I can't recall the last time I've enjoyed myself so much working a "regular" job. I knew that a radio station would be a perfect atmosphere for my particular skills and talents.

My new employer, Bayshore Broadcasting, was smart enough to hire one of the best station managers in the business. I am thrilled and honoured to be working with Rick Ringer, who comes from CHUM FM. Rick was there during what I believe to be the rock and roll radio heyday; 1970's-1980's. Rick is a pleasure to work with.

Also working at 97.7 the Beach are Mariane McLeod and Joe Cahill who share the morning hosting duties. Joe was previously working in St. Catharines, ON., at another "97.7" and is a seasoned professional. Mariane is becoming my new best friend (I haven't told her that yet) and I look forward to her wit and humour each day. I know I'm gushing here, but I can't tell you how lucky I feel to be working with these people.

My hubby and partner in crime, Rick Laz has scored a terrific gig at the radio station as well. Wednesday and Thursday nights, he hosts a Jazz and Blues show called "Sound Waves". Rick is having the time of his life searching out and connecting with some terrific Canadian artists.  I've been helping him find suitable music to play, so we have both been consumed with the task of getting the best material we can find for each of his shows.

If you happen to be in the listening area, you can hear me sing over the airwaves. One of the advantages of sleeping with the DJ, is I'm finally getting some airplay. Talk about your casting couch! Rick (sitting beside me as I write this) would like to say that he is happy to consider more blonde, petite singers for his show. Seriously though, Rick is always interested in hearing from local performers and if you have a jazz or blues recording worthy of consideration, contact me here and I'll put you in touch with him.
